Visit with the Plastic Surgeon

Putting the rumors to rest, at last!

On Sunday we were having a grand time throwing water balloons before church outside. We have three or four cement steps going down to the side patio. Brooke dropped off the side of the stairs onto her head. She split open her little thumb so that her fat pad was protruding out. I called Scott and thought for sure we were going to the ER to get stitches. Scott said she was young and would heal. We didn't go to the ER. *Maybe we should've taken her in to the walk-in clinic. Cheaper and shorter wait.

Anyway, that night her thumb looked pretty swollen and gross. I ended up taking her to her normal dr. in the morning, who consulted another dr. and sent us to the plastic surgeon to see if they wanted to stitch it up. He took one look at it and said no. It had been over 24 hours and would heal with a little scar.

Mom very graciously took the other kids last minute that day so B and I could spend some quality time fighting to get the bandaid off so the drs. could take a look. Thank you, mom. You are Heaven sent, for sure!

The plastic surgeon gave us a prescription for some antibiotics to avoid infection, and we were on our way. The major goose egg on her head has reduced to a big bruise, and her thumb is healing up slowly. Oh, and my girls are having a ball with the pioneer hat. Rockin' it.

Whoa. That is nasty. I've seen the goose egg and scabbed nose, but not the thumb. I didn't think about the walk in clinic. It's not that much more than a regular Dr. visit. Poor Brookie. Kids are so resilient.

Brookie's little face with that pioneer hat on is hilarious! Poor baby. Not fun!! Yeah, I'd go walk-in clinic next time.
