All Grown Up

Jake at 5 months--Alisa's age now!

Jake post-baby. All grown up!

Alisa at 4 months? just to see the difference. They look nothing alike! Alisa looks much more like me--double chin included! :) Ha.

Well, Jake is down for a nap but not asleep. He is locked in his room--yes, I am sorry but sometimes it is necessary so he'll sleep at all! Don't worry, I unlock the door when he's asleep--and at the door calling to me, "Mama...mama..." I don't answer, so he gets more personal with "Ali...Ali...are you there?" I don't remember when he figured out my name, but he uses it at the most random times!

Yesterday in the car he said, "Mom, I want to take off my shoes, but I can't. Can you?" He is starting to talk in paragraphs and very complete sentences and I don't know what to do with myself. I can't have a child this old! Ah! He's so grown up!

The Hospital

Today I told Jake he was going to play with Ethan tomorrow while I went to the hospital (to visit a sick lady who speaks Spanish). He then said he had an owie on his leg and needed to go to the hospital. When I said, "No, I don't think so...do you have an owie on your leg?" He said that it was all better! Thanks goodness. He's had this strange desire to go to the hospital ever since Alisa was born. I think it was the "skateboard" there (a bed pan) or the cool bathroom. Who knows?

Alisa's teeth are officially sticking out now--two of them! She is our sit-up queen. I will post some pictures or videos later that show it. :)

Halloween Party

Oompa, Loompa doopidee doo, I've got another puzzle for you...

Well, a big shout out to Jenn and Dave Stock for the awesome costume idea. Yes, if you are reading this, we thought it was hilarious last year and decided to copy you. This was not an original idea, but it was so fun we thought we'd try. We won "Most original costume" at a Halloween party Friday and 2nd place at the ward party tonight. Ha! People got a kick out of it (1st place had some AWESOME homemade Alice in Wonderland costumes for their whole family--amazing). Anyway, it was fun. Jake loved the trunk-or-treat. Who says Halloween is just for kids?

Alisa was a pumpkin. Yes, Jacqui, this is the $0.49 outfit from the Children's Place. It was a steal and soooo cute. I didn't think the pink shirt was showing through...oops.

We planned on Jake reusing his Superman outfit from last year, although it is not potty training friendly. A few days ago, people started asking him what he was going to be (at the store, etc.) and he kept saying Peter Pan. So, here's the slightly thrown together Peter Pan outfit. What a cutie! He also had a sword (probably his motivation for wanting to be Peter Pan) from the $ store. Gotta love that place!

Ah, life with Jake.

Jake was sitting at the table the other day playing with playdough. He wanted a little toy boat and said to Scott, "Can I please have the boat, dada? [pause] I asked very nicely!" Guess we've said that phrase before!

Jake is very particular about the way we fold our arms or clasp our hands for the prayer. He stops in the middle of his prayer all the time to say (and I quote), "No, mama. Like this. Tuck the arm under there!" and "Dada, hands like this! No fold the arms!" First signs of OCD? :)

He pooped on the potty the other day (yes, my life revolves around his poop) and he got down and said, "I'm so proud of you! High five!" and gave me a great high five, after which we promptly washed our hands (not that he does the wiping!).

Here's Jake with Hallie. After they saw how stunning Alisa looked in her hat, they had to wear their own.

Alisa looking...pouty? She's doing great teething...not too crabby and goes almost directly to sleep after a dose of Tylonol. Just kidding. She just woke up for the fourth time in about 30 minutes!

Well, thought Jake would be Superman again this year. Doesn't he look buff? He thought there was something wrong with it. The costume even fits better than last year! He has told everyone who asks that he is going to be Peter Pan. I'm working on a costume, thanks to leftover felt from my friend Christy.

Muchas fotos!!! A Little Catch-up.

Lots of pictures coming. Here are some friends, the Cornelius's, over for dinner (4 of their 5 kids and Jake). They fed Scott 4 times while I was in Flag.

Here are the piles of dishes afterwords...wish we had a dishwasher!

Gotta love potty training! Here's Jake playing in the dirt in our yard...no undies. He's doing really well. Just last night he conquered his fear of pooping in public toilets and went yesterday and again today at church! Yea! If you don't think this is exciting, wait until you have kids at this stage. It is a 24-7 job!

Maybe I'm crazy, but I am going to run another marathon! Ah! It's in Feb. in Surprise, AZ. We'll see how training with these two monkeys is...Notice they are all bundled up. Yes, it does get cold here sometimes (we think)!

Scott's dental school awarded us 2 year round Disneyland passes because his whole class passed the boards the first time. We've gone 4 or 5 times. So fun! Even Alisa loves it.

Here is Jake's favorite ride--It's a small world--besides Winnie the Pooh.

Here is absolute chaos when I watched the Cornelius kids. Their mom, my friend Cheryl, went out of town and we had some crazy moments during the 8 hours I watched them! Jake was in heaven.

Joining the Blogging World

Well, I am finally joining the world of blogging! I used to think it was a very impersonal way to stay in touch with other poeple's lives. Now I think it is a good way to remember my own! Yes, that's right. I think with my two labors lasting 36 hours each, I have killed essential brain cells. So, this will be my journal of all the exciting things that happen to me at home with my hubby and kiddos. Yippee!

I'm just figuring this picture thing out. Jake was having a VERY whiny morning. On a whim, I decided to make play dough. It was a sanity-saver! He loved it. We had a lot of fun making Nemo, Marlin, Dori, Bruce the Shark, and a whale.

The last pictures are of our little mover. Alisa started in her seat, unbuckled, and ended where she is in the picture. She must've rolled right out when I wasn't looking.

In the second one, I came out from putting Jake down for a nap, and she was ready to show me her culinary skills! She is rolling all over the place now. It's dangerous on the floor as Jake likes to jump over her. Today I was watching Hallie, my friend's 21 month old, and Alisa starts screaming. It turns out Hallie, following Jake's lead, tried to jump over her and instead landed right on her! I'd better watch them more closely!
