Scott turned 31 in September. Such an old man. Ha, ha. We had everyone over for dinner and presents. Scott's parents got us luggage for his birthday-awesome! Thank you!!!
Notice the dress ups. It's fun to have a cousin Alisa's age.
Scott's parents were going to Cancun and invited anyone who could make their way there. We were so lucky and blessed to be able to go--our first trip EVER without kids. A big shout out to my parents for taking the kids for a whole week, and to Les and Linda for a beautiful resort and fun time. It was so relaxing. We read and read and slept and it was fabulous. Plus, we ate authentic tacos al pastor (we've been craving them since we went to Playa del Carmen in 2004)! Yum. We gained a few pounds, but it was worth it!
I forgot my sunglasses, so day 1 was spent wearing Scott's beauties. I look like a man.
At the top of the water slide. So fun.
Les and Linda coming down together.
Infinity pools. Gorgeous water behind us.
Moment of glory on the water slide.
It sounds lame, maybe, but it was so awesome just doing nothing! Our first trip here for our belated honeymoon was full of sight seeing the ruins and caverns and all. This trip, all I wanted to do was sleep, read, relax, swim in the ocean. It was just what we needed!
It was so humid that I couldn't get a decent shot of the gorgeous sunsets. Our camera fogged right up every time. So different from our life here in the dessert.
Sunrise. We were only up because we caught a ride with a tour group down to Cozumel.
On our semi-lame snorkeling trip to Cozumel. If we would've known what it was going to be, we would've toted along our own gear and taken a taxi down to where the groups were snorkeling. It was way too commercialized and a little lame. Oh, well. Live and learn. It was still gorgeous.
These ruins were on our resort property. Pretty neat. I love all the ruins here.
It's just the cut of the shirt. I am not pregnant.
Waiting for the release of the hatched sea turtle eggs. They were so cute and wiggly and strong. It was neat to be able to let them go and watch them make their way to the ocean. There was a turtle conservatory on site.
Our last night, Les and Linda braved the public bus system (which is a little wild) to take us to dinner at a Japanese restaurant. It was really nice, although it was a little odd watching a Mexican cook and serve Japanese food!
Delicious creme brulee. Yum.
Onion volcano
Braving the bus on the way back. En route, I went to ask the driver to advise us when it was our stop, but right when I got up there, this other guy with a karaoke machine started belting out some operatic song. He had a good voice. It was weird. Only in Latin America. Love it!
