I was broiling some chicken since our propane ran out while I was putting the chicken on the grill. I don't have a lot of experience broiling (none with a gas stove). I lined the broiler pan with foil trying to make it easier to clean up. The juice from the cooking chicken caught the foil on fire. The first time, it was just on the edge. I pulled it out, lowered the rack, and put it back. The second time, it set our smoke alarms off and the flames weren't dying down quickly. Good thing the winds were blowing at 60 mph tonight. It turned our fire alarms off in no time. Twice.
Just to add a little stress, Brookie wouldn't get off my leg. She insisted on "holdjew" and so I had to block her with my bum while I rescued our flaming dinner... twice.
Jake prayed I wouldn't start any more fires and that the smoke alarms would never, ever, ever go off again so he wouldn't have to listen to that loud noise!
Feelin' pretty good about myself tonight...

At least they have the coolest mom in the world!
cooking with kids underfoot is sooooo stressful. Walt's always hanging on my leg asking me to "holdjew" also. It's very difficult.
But at least you saved the day! You are Supermom! (make sure you explain that to Jake!)
